Here's a good news for all the Bank jobs Aspirants in India. Now the government's plan for conducting a common entrance test for al bank exams is to be materialized and Indian Bank's Association (IBA) has finalized this innovative and new method of banking Personnel selection. The changes are to take effect from June-2011.
This new method will eliminate the complaining about the delay in knowing results of bank exams in the current banking recruitments. A few points about this new method of selection in Banks are as follows:-
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) will conduct this exam 2 times in a year. Once each for Clerks and Probationary Officers.
Each Candidate will be given a scorecard Which will be valid for One year.
Participating Public sector banks That will look to recruit for above posts will invite applications from candidates having valid scorecards with all the Eligibility conditions like age, education, Percentage explicitly mentioned. Those satisfying the eligibility criteria can send their applications and get directly in Interview or Group discussion (Accroding to bank selection Criteria).
The common exam model will cover job vacancies in Following Banks:-

1. Test of Reasoning/Mental Ability/Aptitude:

This section usually tries to test the reasoning abilities and mental aptitude of the candidate. Questions are asked mainly from the following categories.

    * Percentage
    * Time and Distance
    * Time and Work
    * Profit and Loss

    * Simple and Compound Interest
    * Mensuration (2D and 3D)

    * Data Interpretation

3. English:

This section is designed to test the language abilities and understanding of English grammar. Questions are asked mainly from the following categories.

    * Verb
    * Adverb
    * Subject Verb Agreement
    * Error Correction
    * Tenses
    * Sentence Rearrangement
    * Fill in the Blanks with Modals, Articles etc
    * Comprehension
    * Answering questions based on Unseen Passages
    * Vocabulary

4. General Awareness:

This section is checks whether the candidate keep himself/herself up to date with the world around them. Questions are asked mainly from the following categories.

    * Current Affairs (National and International)
    * Major Financial/Economic News
    * Budget and Five Year Plans

    * Books and Authors
    * Awards and Honours
    * Science - Inventions and Discoveries
